Hello. This short uses our densest chamois pad (called our Gel Touring Chamois Pad) that has a very dense gel layer positioned right at the sit bones. This helps the pad to absorb vibrations (from the road or trail while you ride a bike...but I assume that this can transfer over to the equestrian world as well) and provide lasting support because the gel layer will not compress as easily as most foam padding will.
Another option, especially if you plan to wear something over top of the shorts could be our Elite Air Gel Underliner. This style uses very lightweight fabric that is designed to be breathable since you're layering and wearing shorts or pants over them. The pad used in this style, our Elite Chamois Pad, is the thickest one that we currently use in our men's line and it has a gel layer as well. However, it is a little lower on the density scale as you can see here.
