Hello. These are great for cold windy days, for sure. The front panels are windproof and the rear panels are breathable, fleece lined polyester/spandex.
However, they are not waterproof and they probably fall into the "heavyweight" category. They are not packable in the classic sense because they're not in the lightweight category but they certainly stash away in panniers or a roomy backpack when not in use.
