Hello. By waist size he'd be right in the Large range (36-38) but at his height the inseam may be just a little short, though it's tough to tell since the amount of stretch in the fabric depends on the rider's body type when they put them on. I would probably recommend trying the Large first and we can always help with an exchange if needed. Or, if you prefer, you can order one of each and then return whichever one doesn't fit for a refund.
