Hello. At the crotch, the vertical seam running down from the waistband intersects with the vertical seam running up from the the inside of the leg opening at the ankle. These are very popular for us, as well as the shorts and tights versions and we don't really hear complaints about the design. But the padded version does kind of "cover" this intersection as you mentioned, yes.
