Hello. All of our replacement pads (including this one) with the exception of the Removable Pad are designed to be sewn into place to be most effective, yes. We include sewing instructions with each one so that you (or a local tailor, seamstress or alterations expert) can get them placed and sewn properly. In any case you would want to use them with snug-fitting compression bottoms to make sure that the pad stays in place as you ride.
