Hello. This pad can be sewn in, yes. But it is a little bit thicker than most tri-specific pads. It is meant to wick moisture, of course, but it might not dry as quickly getting out of the water and getting on the bike as a true tri-specific pad would. Everyone is different, but it shouldn't really get in the way too much during the swim portion but our tri-specific pad, for example is more flexible for the swim leg of race day.
