Hello. We try to include a product-specific size chart in each listing. And these waist sizes are based off of your actual waist size (rather than your "jeans size," for example). If you're right in between sizes, most riders can usually go with the smaller size of the two so that you're not wearing something too loose fitting. But, of course everyone's body type is different and we all carry our weight in different ways.
We can always help with exchanges and returns too in case you need to exchange sizes once you try them on. Or some riders will order one of each size to compare and then return the ill-fitting size for a refund too.
Regarding an unpadded version, I don't think that we have plans for this in the near future but get in touch with us at 1-800-783-8326 or cyclewear@aerotechdesigns.com and we can usually send one through the production line without a pad for you the next time we put them through the sewing floor here.
