Hello. We size our men's bottoms by waist size and a Medium is usually best for a 32-34 waist while Large is a solid 36-38. These are based on your actual waist measurement, which may vary slightly from your "jeans size," for example.
But returns and exchanges are very easy and if you wanted to order one of each, for example, and return whichever size doesn't fit then that wouldn't be a problem at all.
