Hello. It is a casual/loose fit, yes. It isn't a tapered race fit or anything like that.
When laying flat on a table, the circumference of the midsection of a Large is about 46 inches, whereas a Medium is 44 inches. It's tough to get an accurate measurement for the chest because part of the torso is scooped out to allow for the arm holes of the vest.
