Hello. The product-specific size chart (based on chest measurement) in the listing should be true to form, but we're all proportioned differently too, of course.
To give you an idea, each size will measure a few inches larger than the largest measurement in the range of the size chart. This is to make sure you have freedom of movement while you're wearing it, it isn't skin tight, and so you can comfortably layer with it. So, for example, the size chart lists a body size of 42-44 chest measurement for size X-Large. The actual garment when laying flat on a table is 46 inches circumference at the chest.
