Hello. Thank you for your question. Your size should be consistent across both styles but the Fierce is just designed to be a much trimmer, race fit compared to the causal/relaxed fit of the Empress. So if you like that snugger fit of your current Fierce jersey and would like that same fit in the Empress then sizing down would be the best size to try first, yes. The fit through the body and shoulders would be very similar but the length would be just slightly different: one size down in the Empress would be about 1/2" longer in the front and 2" longer in the back.
