Hello. Yes, the chamois pad is sewn in and can only be removed if the stitching is taken out. But this helps to keep the integrity of the chamois placement intact for the best support while riding. And this way when you wash the shorts everything is cleaned at the same time.
As far as washing goes, we generally recommend cold water, mild detergent and air drying: Product Care.
