Hello. A 4XL is designed for a 54-56 chest so I would recommend that first. The jacket itself is a casual fit (not trim/tapered or anything like that) and there are a few inches built into the sizing so that you can layer under it and still have freedom of motion while wearing it. A 4XL should have about 4-5" of extra circumference room for you around the armpits, in case that helps you to visualize things a bit better. Going up or down a size adds/subtracts a few inches with each change.
