Hello. To change modes, turn the light on by pressing the button once. Then once it is on (on any of the modes, it doesn't matter) you can press the button once to cycle through to the next mode/pattern. Just keep pressing the button and each time will advance to the next mode. Press and hold the same button to turn the light off and the next time you turn it on the light will default to the same mode you used last.
